Monday Museum Mystery: Kola Beads

Where do you think these Kola beads came from? What could they have been used for? Do you think they were decorative, edible, or used in a ritual?

Check back this Friday, August 9th for the answer!

Answer: These Kola beads came from western Africa and were used for ritual purposes. They would be dispersed onto a a plate such as this hand-carved wooden tray and the Shaman or religious leader of the tribe would read the kola beads- similar to how someone might read tea leaves to predict the future.
