75 for 75: Georgia O'Keefe

Abstraction, Lake George, 1918
Georgia O'Keefe
Oil on Board
Bequest of Seymour Lawrence

This abstract painting by Georgia O'Keeffe is part of the Seymour Lawrence Collection of American Art at the Museum. It was painted in 1918. O'Keeffe was most famous for her large paintings of close-up flowers and abstract works.

Classroom Prompt: What do you see in this painting? Does anyone see a lake? Abstract art doesn't look exactly like something would in real life- it could be a combination of colors, shapes, and lines. Create your own abstract painting at home or school!
