#OlympicsDidYouKnow Boxing in the ancient world was one of the deadliest combat sports. While you could say modern boxing is still very dangerous, it was far worse in ancient times. There were no rounds and no weight classes within the age divisions. The only way the match ended was to either knock out your opponent or have him admit defeat, and you had do this by solely punching his head! While padded gloves were used in training; only leather thongs (himantes) wrapped around the hand and the wrist, were worn in competitions.
