#OlympicsDidYouKnow Taurotheria

‪#‎OlympicsDidYouKnow There were many sports that were specific to a city or region that never became part of the Olympics. Today's artifact is a silver coin from Larissa, a city situated on the Greek Thessalian plains. Larissa was known for its horses and for this dangerous rodeo-like sport,Taurotheria, shown here.
The objective of Taurotheria was for a horseman to ride after a bull, leap from his horse, then tackle the bull to the ground by his horns.
