Virtual Gallery: November Milkshake Mash-up!

On Monday, we were happy to welcome students from the community and the B oys and Girls Club LOU Clubhouse to our second Milkshake Mash-up of the semester.  We combined the works of Jason Twiggy Lott with Theora Hamblett  to create some eerie assemblages! Try it Out! William Eggleston and Randy Hayes Mash-up

For last week's Milkshake Mash-up, we mashed up the works of William Eggleston and Randy Hayes . We created a photo collage using images from our newest exhibit, The Beautiful Mysterious: The Extraordinary Gaze of William Eggleston , and then painted pictures on top using watercolors. Follow the steps below and you'll be on your way to making your own mashed up masterpiece! Materials: Printed images Acetone Paintbrush Card Stock (or other heavy paper) Popsicle Painters Tape (optional) Watercolor Water Estimated Time: 30 Minutes to 1.5 hours First , use your paintbrush to moisten the paper with acetone. Second, lay your image ink-side down and use your popsicle stick to burnish it into the acetone. The longer you rub the photo, the more ink will be absorbed into the card stock below. Be careful not to lift the image until you're done. You can tape down the edges of the picture so it doesn't move. Third, slowly lift you image off the ...

Museum Happenings: FREE Milkshake Mash-ups Monday, October 3, 2016

This Monday, October 3rd, the Museum will have our first FREE Milkshake Mash-up of the semester. Geared towards middle schoolers and teenagers, we mix up two artists or styles into one fun project! This month, we'll be featuring the work of William Eggleston and Randy Hayes ! Materials and unlimited milkshakes provided. Milkshake Mash-ups is free, but space is limited. Email Emily McCauley before Friday, September 30 to reserve your spot! Check back next Wednesday, October 5, when we post a Virtual Gallery showcasing projects from Monday's Mash-up!
